It is already known that the government of Andhra Pradesh is looking to develop Amaravati as the cultural and technological hub of the state and is putting consolidated efforts into the same.
Now the latest development are suggesting that the Mumbai film industry which is primarily regarded as Bollywood is looking to expand its base in Amaravati.
Apparently, several representatives of Bollywood, including actor Sanjay Dutt and several other reputed personalities have requested land for film studio development in Amravati for film studios.
The concerned authorities have reportedly instructed these individuals to approach with their relevant company documents, including balance sheets in order to assess the financial stability.
As many as 114, companies and entities have shown interest in investing in Amaravati and they are potentially locking this cultural hub as their centre of operations in south India.
It is an established fact that film studio business is extremely lucrative and generates a lot of revenue to the government. So any advancement from Mumbai industry will be of substantial progress.
The Tollywood must also take positive reinforcement into this matter and play their part in the enhancement of the Amaravati project, a seasoned expert commented.
Despite being the home market for a significant share of Telugu cinema audiences, Andhra Pradesh still lacks a major film studio ecosystem comparable to Telangana.
While Hyderabad houses several leading studios and production facilities, Andhra Pradesh does not have a single large-scale studio that can attract regular film production activities. Industry experts believe this gap needs to be addressed to ensure balanced growth of the Telugu film industry.
Interestingly, the call for developing film infrastructure in Andhra Pradesh has remained consistent across political lines.
Leaders including CM Chandrababu Naidu, Ex CM Jagan Mohan Reddy, and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan have, at different times, urged Tollywood’s leading producers and stakeholders to establish film studios, stunt schools, and training institutes in the state.
Such initiatives could generate employment, boost tourism, and help create a sustainable film ecosystem beyond Hyderabad.
