Box Office: Peddi Hits Double Century!

Peddi had a strong Saturday at the box office and the film’s worldwide gross is said to have crossed the Rs 200 crore mark as per early estimates. Trade circles expect a strong Sunday as well, with projections suggesting the first weekend total could end up in the Rs 240 to Rs 250 crore range.

The film is performing particularly well in the Telugu states. Andhra has emerged as the biggest strength for Peddi, while the Nizam region is also registering steady collections. The weekend trend has given the team enough reason to stay optimistic.

However, the journey is far from over. Made on a massive budget of around Rs 350 crore, the film reportedly needs to gross close to Rs 480 to Rs 500 crore worldwide to achieve a comfortable hit status at the box office.

While reaching that target appears possible if the Telugu states continue to perform strongly, the situation outside the Telugu market remains uncertain. The film’s performance in Hindi, Tamil and Malayalam markets is yet to show the kind of momentum needed for a long run.

This makes Sunday and the first weekday collections extremely important. A solid hold on Monday could give a clearer picture about the film’s long term prospects across various territories.

Meanwhile, ticket pricing has become a talking point among moviegoers. Some audience feel the higher prices are making family outings expensive. One social media user from Andhra claimed that a movie plan that would normally cost around Rs 800 for his family was now costing nearly Rs 1,400, forcing him to drop the idea.

Trade observers believe premium pricing may help initially, but normal ticket rates could encourage better footfalls during weekdays.

Starring Ram Charan and directed by Buchi Babu, Peddi continues its box office run despite mixed responses. The film also faced criticism over certain Janhvi Kapoor scenes, following which the makers reportedly apologized and made changes.
