Following the phenomenal success of Manjummel Boys, all eyes have been on what director Chidambaram would do next. If the trailer of Balan: The Boy is any indication, the filmmaker is venturing into far darker and more psychologically layered territory. While Manjummel Boys carried warmth even during its most intense moments, Balan: The Boy surrounds its emotional core with an unsettling sense of dread.

The trailer offers no comic relief, no easy explanations, and no clearly defined villain. Instead, it maintains a consistent tone of tension from beginning to end, creating an atmosphere that lingers long after the trailer ends. The mother constantly looks over her shoulder, moves with urgency, and appears to be preparing for threats that never fully materialize on screen.
