Watch: Why Balan After Manjummel Boys?

Malayalam filmmaker Chidambaram gets grand success with his second film Manjummel Boys. The film became a blockbuster, and soon after, he was flooded with opportunities. Chidambaram was even supposed to work with Naga Chaitanya, but the project is yet to hit the floors. In the meantime, he made Balan, which is currently in theatres. In a conversation with us, Chidambaram made it clear as to why he did not chase the stars right after a big blockbuster.

Chidambaram said he had always wanted to work with big stars and had even discussed it with them. He also stated that some of the collaborations are in the pipeline with them. Right after Manjummel Boys, Chidambaram was supposed to do a Hindi film, but then it was taking time, and then, Balan’s story stuck in his mind, and it eventually got materialized.

Chidambaram made it clear that he has not intentionally avoided working with stars, and it is that things just happened naturally, and he has solid plans to make films featuring star heroes.

Generally, young filmmakers, after their debut success, tend to up their game by bringing in established stars for their projects. But Chidambaran did something different. Instead of wasting his time, running after stars or getting into big production houses, he trusted his instinct and came up with this interesting and unique project Balan.

Having said and done, Chidambaram’s plans were completely different, and then, he came up with a film starring newcomers and made Balan in a small budget. The film is getting praise from everyone today.
