Netflix is set to launch its first-ever Telugu Original Series with Super Subbu, a quirky rural comedy-drama starring Sundeep Kishan. Directed by Mallik Ram of Tillu Square fame, and produced by Chilaka Productions, the series explores an unconventional subject through an entertaining and family-friendly lens. The makers came up with its trailer.
The story revolves around Subramanyam Chillukuri Rao, popularly called Subbu, who lands in Maakipur as a newly appointed sex education officer. While he arrives with good intentions and a carefully prepared lesson plan, the village has plans of its own. Subbu soon finds himself at the centre of a whirlwind of rumours, questions, and unexpected situations.
Director Mallik Ram crafts a refreshing dramedy that tackles sensitive topics with humor, honesty, and heart. Beyond the unlimited laughs, the series explores family bonds, cultural attitudes, and the clash between generations in a rapidly changing society.
Sundeep Kishan fits the role perfectly, and his innocent performance adds authenticity to the character. The series also features Mithila Palkar, and Murali Sharma, while Brahmanandam will be seen in a prominent role.
Sundeep Kishan is happy to make his debut with such a humorous series. “Subbu is an ordinary guy who finds himself in the most extraordinary situations. Every plan he makes goes hilariously wrong, leading to endless chaos in Maakipur. What I loved about the character is his sincerity despite all the trouble around him. Working with this wonderful team and being part of Netflix’s first Telugu original series has been truly memorable,” says he.
Arriving on Netflix on July 2, the series has generated strong buzz, and the trailer suggests it could emerge as a big winner.
