Dil Raju’s Take on Reviewers Misses the Logic

The ongoing debate between filmmakers and reviewers has once again come into focus after producer Dil Raju spoke about the growing rift. He pointed out that a new trend is emerging where some filmmakers respond to negative reviews by threatening reviewers, blocking their channels, or trying to get their content removed.

While filmmakers have every right to disagree with a review, criticism has always been an integral part of cinema. A review is an opinion based on an individual’s experience, not a personal attack on the filmmaker.

Healthy criticism and open discussions help both audiences and the film industry. Attempting to silence reviewers only creates unnecessary conflict instead of encouraging constructive dialogue.

In fact, reviews often benefit the industry. There have been many instances where films with little or no pre-release buzz gained attention because of positive word-of-mouth and favorable reviews. Strong reviews can attract audiences to theatres and give deserving films the recognition they need.

On the other hand, if a film is genuinely well-made, filmmakers need not fear criticism because positive audience response will ultimately prevail.

If a movie receives negative reviews from both critics and audiences, it should be seen as an opportunity to understand what went wrong and improve in future projects. Constructive criticism is not an enemy of cinema,it is one of the forces that helps the industry grow and evolve.
