How’s Super Subbu’s Sex Education Doing?

Sandeep Kishan has finally stepped into the OTT space with Super Subbu, Netflix’s first straight Telugu original web series. With Tillu Square director Mallik Ram at the helm, the series arrived with decent expectations.

The story revolves around a young man who enters a rural village with the mission of spreading awareness about sex education. While the premise sounds bold, the treatment stays clean and family friendly.

Instead of relying on vulgar jokes or cheap entertainment, the series balances comedy with emotion. Mallik Ram keeps the narrative simple and ensures the sensitive subject never feels uncomfortable.

Sandeep Kishan delivers a sincere performance in the lead role. He fits naturally into the character, while the supporting cast including Brahmanandam, Murali Sharma, Getup Srinu and Jeevan adds enough entertainment.

The seven episode series does slow down at a few places. Some portions feel stretched, but the overall narration remains engaging enough to keep viewers invested till the end.

The biggest strength of Super Subbu is that it delivers a meaningful message without sounding preachy. That has become one of the major reasons behind its positive response.

Now, the only question is whether this encouraging word of mouth can translate into strong viewership. If it does, Super Subbu could turn out to be one of Sandeep Kishan’s biggest OTT successes.
