Can Vijay’s Stardom Save Jana Nayagan?

Generally, when a film defers the release date, it loses a lot of momentum. This has historically happened for many films where a delay in release could lead to depleted hype. For now, let us discuss about the upcoming Tamil movie Jana Nayagan, which has Vijay in the lead role.

This film was originally supposed to release this Pongal season. But the censorship activities got deterred for multiple reasons and the release timeline could not be met. But just when this film was turning out to be stale, Vijay gave blockbuster news by becoming the chief minister of Tamil Nadu in his very first election camp.

Now the film has regained the momentum and it is preparing for release on July 24. But there are multiple factors that are working against this film already.

Firstly, the extreme delay in the release has depleted the momentum significantly. On top of that, not many great things are expected of this film as it does not have a star director value like a Lokesh Kanagaraj or Nelson.

To make matters worse, this film got leaked on social media a couple of months back. These videos went viral and many people accessed the same already. The reactions were very negative as well.

On the other hand, the A certificate will restrict kids and teenage Vijay fans from watching the film, which could become the biggest roadblock, as Vijay enjoys immense popularity among teenagers.

With so many factors working against this film, the only positive is the presence of Thalapathy Vijay. Also, this happens to be the final film from Vijay as he is fully busy in politics these days and coincidentally, it is also his first film after becoming the CM.

So Vijay is the only saving grace for this film at this point in time, while literally everything else can be categorised as a negative factor. So we have to wait a couple of weeks to see if this film can overcome all these problems and still win at the box office.
