Dhanush is reuniting with director Vetrimaran after a short gap. The duo is yet to figure out the sequel to Vada Chennai, but they seem to be developing a new film titled Thamizh Murugan, set against the life of Lord Murugan. This is the second film in South, centered on Lord Murugan, while the first was a collaboration between NTR and Trivikram Srinivas.
The Tamil film’s announcement finally came out today. Initially, there was speculation that Dhanush would team up with director Shankar on his dream project, while a few said it would also be a multistarrer featuring a Bollywood actor. But the final confirmation is here that Dhanush and Vetrimaran are reuniting. The announcement video looked rushed, was full of AI, and was improperly generated, lacking good quality.
Interestingly, two films centered on the same theme, with star actors and directors associated with each project, create a sense of curiosity. At the same time, some see this as a clash, while a few perceive it as a roadblock to the already announced film in Telugu, since Murugan is considered a big god to Tamilians more than Telugu people, and they can add more authenticity.
It is clear that the Telugu film will be based on a novel with Trivikramisation. But there is no clarity on whether the Tamil film falls under the mythology genre or contemporary drama with fantasy elements. It is also interesting to note that Anirudh is scoring the music for NTR’s film, and his former associate Sai Abhyankar is on board for Dhanush’s film.
Whatever it may be, we will have to see whether both films release around the same time or are completely different. Only time can answer this!
