Renowned American singer Taylor Swift and her boyfriend Travis Kelce got married at Madison Square Garden in New York on July 3 in a big fat wedding event. Thousands of fans gathered outside the venue to celebrate this beautiful occasion. But, one uninvited guest grabbed the attention for his unusual money making idea with a smart tactic.
After the wedding, a New York freelancer artist named Justin Gignac picked up the trash left on the streets outside the venue. He collected items like bottle caps, straws, cigarette butts, and even a single AirPod.
The artist put the trash into tiny, clear plastics and labeled them as art pieces. He put a special stamp on each cube that said “JUST&T MARRIED.”
He sold each trash cube online for about Rs 2,400. Fans of Taylor Swift, known as Swifties, wanted a memory from the wedding day. Because of this, the artist sold 50 cubes and made around Rs 1.2 lakh. All of the trash pieces sold out in just 24 hours.
Gignac explained that he loves to capture big cultural moments in New York City. He wanted these unique cubes to act like little time capsules for fans who could not attend the event. He also made sure to clarify that he only picked up the trash from the public streets outside the security barriers, and not from inside the actual wedding venue.
This is not the first time the artist has done something like this. Gignac actually runs a website where he sells different types of trash collected from all over New York City. The news is currently going viral all over the globe.
