Celebrating the success of Lenin, her first clean commercial hit, Bhagyashri Borse turned emotional while reflecting on the criticism she faced earlier in her career. In a recent interview, she opened up about being unfairly labelled an Iron Leg after a couple of films failed.
The actress revealed that she heard such comments after Kantha and Andhra King Taluka did not perform as expected. She said it is common for people to blame heroines after consecutive failures, but such judgments are neither fair nor justified.
Bhagyashri pointed out that actors do not have complete control over the filmmaking process. She explained that crucial decisions regarding editing, screenplay changes and even the final cut are made by the director and producers, leaving actors with very little control.
She added that if she were involved in every major creative decision alongside the hero, director and producer, then she would accept equal responsibility for a film’s result. Until then, she believes such labels have no meaning.
Bhagyashri’s candid remarks have resonated with many. After finally tasting success with Lenin, she hopes audiences stop judging actresses based solely on a film’s box office result and recognize that cinema is always a team effort.
