One of the most celebrated film makers in the world, Christopher Nolan is returning in a big way with Odyssey, which is running successfully in the theatre. This film is doing phenomenally well in the domestic Indian market as well.
According to reports, this film has collected in the vicinity of ₹70 crore in the first three days at the Indian box office, which is a pretty solid number for individual film without any franchise backing.
At this rate, the film needs to hold the momentum for the next 2 to 3 weeks in order to establish a new all time record for Christopher Nolan in the Indian cinema scene.
The previous film from Christopher Nolan, Oppenheimer, which had also released with a lot of anticipation had collected in the range of ₹155 in the Indian market. This is the highest grossing Christopher Nolan film in India till now.
However, we have a pretty solid chance of the Odyssey going beyond this number as it has done very well in the first three days. Reasonable hold in momentum for the next weekend can help the film reach the 150 crore mark or beyond.
We have a couple of films like Jana Nayagan and Chennai Love Story releasing next weekend. But these films might not be the primary competition for the Nolan film, considering the sharp contrast in genre. There might be a bit of leakage in revenue but overall, Odyssey looks set for a big run in the Indian subcontinent for now.
