Jana Nayagan: Firing In Tamil, Sleeping In Telugu

Vijay has always enjoyed a strong market in Telugu despite being a Tamil superstar. Films like Master and Leo generated excellent pre release buzz in the Telugu states, proving that his popularity extends well beyond Tamil Nadu.

Naturally, many expected Jana Nayagan to create a similar wave. The excitement was even higher after Vijay’s political entry as he becomes CM, with many believing the film would benefit from the added attention.

However, the momentum has gradually faded. The initial hype has not translated into strong excitement as the release approaches, leaving trade circles surprised.

One major reason is that Jana Nayagan is a remake. To make matters worse, the original version has already surfaced online, reducing the curiosity factor among a section of the audience.

The difference in advance bookings clearly reflects the situation. While the film is recording impressive bookings across Tamil Nadu, the response in the Telugu states has been quite underwhelming.

At the moment, there is very little buzz in Telugu compared to Vijay’s previous releases. Unless positive word of mouth changes the narrative after release, the film may struggle to deliver the kind of opening many had predicted.

Jana Nayagan is expected to dominate in Tamil Nadu, but its Telugu box office prospects remain uncertain. It now depends entirely on the film’s content and audience reception after the first shows.
