Yash is playing the character of Ravana in the film, Ramayana, with Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi as Lord Rama and Sita, respectively. He is also producing the film with Namit Malhotra in the direction of Nitesh Tiwari. Sony Pictures are distributing the movie Internationally and Ramayana team went to Comic Con to promote the film.
Yash spoke about the film and his character at the event. He said, “Ramayana stayed with people for thousands of years and despite being reiterated numerous of times, it is still fresh. We wanted to state it on a larger-than-life scale and took no compromise to take it to global platforms on massive scale.”
He stated that they did not hold back and they knew that the story is about human conflicts and ego. So, he said, “We wanted to showcase a man who has this gigantic ego that he owns three worlds and how his downfall had been brought by this beautiful humane story with emotions at right place.”
Yash futher stated the they did not see it through lens of religion but as a human story and hence, the movie will be relatable to global audiences. While he also emphasized that they did not tamper with source material but celebrated the greatness of Lord Ram and Ramayana. The movie is scheduled for Diwali release and currently, Hans Zimmer, AR Rahman are scoring for this VFX Marvel with effects being handled by Oscar winning DNEG.
