Jakkanna Brilliance – From Varanasi To Antarctica!

Ace filmmaker SS Rajamouli, who is usually known for revealing the plot of his films, has yet shared an important and crucial detail of his ongoing epic adventure film Varanasi featuring Superstar Mahesh Babu alongside Priyanka Chopra and Prithviraj Sukumaran.

Jakkanna shared an exciting update about Varanasi’s story journey. Rajamouli revealed that Varanasi has a unique globe-trotting story that travels across different places and even different time periods.

“The journey of Varanasi goes from Varanasi to Antarctica, then to Africa, then travels back in time to Ancient Rome, and finally returns to Varanasi,” Rajamouli said.

Jakkanna also explained why the team did not reveal much in the teaser.

“We’ve released a teaser, but I didn’t want to reveal too much because it wouldn’t do justice to the film. Instead, we made a video showing the kind of experience audiences can expect, without revealing the story,” the RRR filmmaker shared.

Varanasi Shooting Details

Meanwhile, Rajamouli has already completed a major portion of Varanasi’s shooting. Thanks to careful planning and well-organised schedules, the production is moving smoothly without major delays.

The next shooting schedule is expected to begin at Ramoji Film City next week. The makers are reportedly aiming to complete the entire shoot by October 2026. The film is currently on track for a grand Summer 2027 theatrical release.

Set in the holy city of Varanasi, the story follows a massive asteroid that threatens the city’s future. Mahesh Babu plays Rudra, a devoted follower of Lord Shiva, in what is expected to be one of the biggest films of 2027. Looks like, this is going to be a major feast to all Mahesh Babu’s fans who’re eagerly waiting to see their favourite star in a lager-than life story.
