Usually, films tend to slow down a bit after a strong opening, and this is a common trend. But on very rare occasions, films witness an upward trend on their second day, and Mega Prince Varun Tej’s Korean Kanakaraju has done exactly that. The film minted big revenues on its second day, collecting a worldwide total of 23.6 Cr+ in its 2-day run.
The film, directed by Merlapaka Gandhi, has managed to convert its initial response into stronger footfalls, with audiences continuing to show interest across single screens and multiplexes. The comedy-driven entertainer is also bringing family audiences to theatres, which is helping sustain occupancy. It has crossed 500K in ticket sales together in BookMyShow and District. The film is maintaining a good pace overseas as well. The USA market is nearing the $250K milestone.
Korean Kanakaraju was made on a budget of around 38 crore, while its non-theatrical rights are said to have generated approximately 26 crore. With the theatrical business requiring only around 12 crore for breakeven, the film is likely to enter the profit mark by the third day itself. The strong bookings for Sunday indicate that Day 3 numbers are set to be huge.
More importantly, the movie has the added advantage of the Bonalu holiday across Telangana on Monday.
