Watch: Tollywood Design Veterans on AI Revolution in Posters!

Tollywood’s senior most poster and logo designers Anil and Bhanu recently sat down with Gulte’s Nishant for an insightful conversation about the changing world of film publicity. From manual designing methods to Photoshop, digital photography and now AI, the duo discussed how technology has completely transformed the way movie posters are created.

One of the most interesting topics was the growing influence of AI on film poster designing. Anil and Bhanu explained that while AI can be useful for generating ideas, modifying backgrounds and handling certain small tasks, it still has major limitations when it comes to creating final posters. Resolution, authenticity and the need for high quality visuals remain major concerns.

The discussion also touched upon the recently released Fauzi poster, which generated considerable discussion among movie lovers. The use of AI and modern design techniques in such high profile projects has once again raised questions about how far technology should be used in film publicity and where human creativity should remain the core.

According to the designers, star power continues to play a major role in Tollywood poster designing. For big star films, the hero’s image and fan expectations often determine the creative boundaries. At the same time, there is a gradual shift towards conceptual posters that reveal something about the story instead of simply showcasing the lead actor.

Social media has created another major challenge for designers. Posters that once remained in the public memory for months now disappear within hours because of the constant flow of content. As a result, designers are expected to create multiple posters for teasers, songs, updates and announcements while still maintaining a consistent visual identity.

Anil and Bhanu also recalled how poster designing was once a completely manual process involving photo scanning, physical layouts and several technical difficulties. Digital photography and modern software have made the process faster and more efficient, but the demand for high resolution promotional material has simultaneously increased the pressure on designers.

The conversation finally highlighted the importance of teamwork between designers, directors, producers and actors. Despite the rapid technological changes and the arrival of AI, Anil and Bhanu believe that understanding the story, creating the right visual language and maintaining originality will continue to define memorable film posters.
