He is also one of the most popular stars in the South. However, some of Suriya’s previous films failed to perform at the box office, disappointing his hardcore fans as well as the trade.

In fact, some sections of the trade and media had written him off following the poor performance of his films. But Suriya has now made a terrific comeback, scoring two blockbusters in just three months.

Karuppu (Veerabhadrudu) turned out to be a sleeper hit. While Karuppu became an unexpected blockbuster against all odds, Vishwanath And Sons (VAS) is also heading towards that status, considering the positive reviews and strong word of mouth.

Suriya’s latest release, Vishwanath And Sons (VAS), opened to positive reviews in both Tamil and Telugu and is now heading towards blockbuster status. Considering the talk and bookings, trade circles believe that VAS could comfortably score a success at the box office.

In fact, there is no major competition for VAS in either Tamil or Telugu at present. Films like Spider-Man, DC and Korean Kanakaraju have already enjoyed a good run and are gradually slowing down at the ticket windows. This gives VAS a strong opportunity to hold well through this weekend and into the next week.

VAS has a breakeven target of around ₹200 crore gross world wide. Given the positive talk, strong word of mouth and lack of major competition in both the Tamil and Telugu markets, VAS is likely to reach the mark comfortably.
