Emraan Hashmi’s Awarapan 2 is turning out to be one of the biggest surprises at the box office this year. Despite receiving mixed reviews from critics, the film has opened strongly and is now heading towards super-hit status.
Interestingly, the first Awarapan was a box-office failure. However, the film slowly gained a cult following through its songs, emotional story, and Emraan Hashmi’s performance, which helped it earn a loyal fan base over time.
According to trade estimates, the film has been made on a budget of less than Rs 50 crore by Vishesh Films. In a remarkable start, it reportedly recovered nearly half of its budget on the very first day.
Trade circles are expecting First Weekend collections to touch the Rs 50 crore mark, which would put the film on a strong path. If the current trend continues, Awarapan 2 could recover its entire budget within its first weekend itself, which is huge.
Another surprising aspect is its performance in South Indian cities, especially Hyderabad. Despite facing competition from Vishwanath & Sons, the film is attracting strong occupancy. All eyes are now on its first weekend box office numbers.
