Veteran actress Sowcar Janaki has passed away at the age of 94. She breathed her last at 1:59 PM on Friday after being hospitalised in Chennai due to age related health issues. Nadigar Sangam president Nassar confirmed the tragic news.
Janaki had been receiving treatment at Kauvery Hospital in Alwarpet, Chennai. She was reportedly admitted after falling ill, with doctors providing intensive medical care during her hospitalisation.
Nassar later confirmed Janaki’s demise through an official statement. He described her as a legendary star and announced that her mortal remains would be kept at Centoph Road in Teynampet from 5 PM for people to pay their last respects.
Sowcar Janaki leaves behind a remarkable legacy spanning several decades in Indian cinema. Her contribution to Telugu, Tamil and other South Indian films earned her a special place among veteran performers, with generations of audiences remembering her work.
