This is probably one of the very rare situations in Tollywood box-office history. 9 films 9 hits in a row, thus setting the record of a triple hat-trick.
At a time when every film turning out to be a dud and even decent films have failed to pull crowds to cinemas and audiences were largely confined to OTTs, many have thought that bringing audiences to theatres is a Herculean task. However, good cinema has broken this norm with ease.
It all started with Suriya’s Veerabhadrudu, a Telugu-dubbed Tamil movie. This is followed by Ram Charan’s Peddi, Samantha’s Maa Inti Bangaram, Akhil Akkineni’s Lenin, Kiran Abbavaram’s Chennai Love Story, Varun Tej’s Korean Kanakaraju, Lokesh Kanagaraju’s DC, Suriya’s Vishwanath And Sons and now Ravi Teja-Shiva Nirvana’s Irumudi.
This is not just limited to regional cinema. Even Hollywood films have done exceptionally well at the Tollywood box-office and Indian box-office. Obsession, Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey and Spider-Man: Brand New Day have outperformed at the ticket windows, particularly Spider-Man witnessed a phenomenal show.
With this kind of triple hat-trick successes at box-office, theatre owners and exhibitors are rejoicing at the moment. Exhibitors, who have been demanding for a percentage system have turned silent and seem to be keeping aside the demand of the percentage system.
Meanwhile, the next has a very interesting pipeline including Yash’s Toxic, Venkatesh and Trivikram’s Adarsha Kutumbam AK 47, Sandeep Reddy’s production Romanchakam, Rambha Urvasi Menaka, Anand Deverakonda’s Epic and Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2. Let’s see whether these upcoming films continue the success streak at the box-office or not.
