Yash’s Toxic has taken a sensational start at the box office, collecting close to Rs 140 crore worldwide on its opening day. However, the film has also opened to negative reviews, creating uncertainty about its long-term theatrical run.
As a result, all eyes are now on Toxic’s first weekend numbers. Trade circles believe the next two days will determine whether Toxic can stay on course towards the breakeven number. The action drama has already crossed Rs 190 crore worldwide by the end of Day 2, but it still needs a strong weekend.
One major positive for Toxic is its Hindi performance. Surprisingly, the Hindi version has emerged as the strongest contributor, collecting significantly more than the Kannada version on the opening day.
Reports suggest the North Indian market is responding far better than expected, thanks largely to Yash’s popularity after KGF 2. Interestingly, the Hindi version has shown stronger momentum than the original Kannada version on Day 2 as well.
With the Hindi belt continuing to drive collections, Toxic now depends heavily on its first weekend. If the film can reach at least half of its ambitious target by Sunday, the losses will be minimal.
