Back To Back Disappointments For Nayanthara

Nayanthara began 2026 on a high note with Chiranjeevi’s Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu, which became one of the year’s biggest blockbusters and enjoyed a phenomenal box-office run.

However, things have not gone as planned for Nayanthara, as her much-hyped Malayalam multistarrer Patriot, in which she played a crucial role alongside Mammootty and Mohanlal, failed to meet box-office expectations. The film received mixed reactions and eventually underperformed commercially.

Nayanthara was also associated with her husband Vignesh Shivan’s LIK as a co-producer. The film failed to create an impact at the box office, adding another disappointment in her career.

Things did not stop there, as Toxic, featuring Yash, opened to negative reviews. While the film has posted strong opening numbers, the overall verdict is a flop, and Nayanthara did not have a strong role as well.

On the other hand, Nayanthara’s latest release, Hi, starring Kavin, has also received mixed early reactions. Though the film recorded growth on its second day, its long-term box-office performance remains uncertain.

With a blockbuster like Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu followed by a string of underwhelming results, Nayanthara is going through a challenging phase. Fans will now be hoping that her upcoming projects help her bounce back strongly.
