Kalki 2 May Take Much Longer Than Expected?

Kalki 2898 AD is one of the biggest Telugu blockbusters, elevating Prabhas’ image as India’s biggest Superstar. Directed by Nag Ashwin, the film has raised expectations for its sequel.

However, Nag Ashwin indicated a bigger delay in the film’s progress. Nag Ashwin said he has shot only 10 days so far, not including Prabhas’ portions. This clearly means that Kalki 2 may not arrive in theatres even next year.

Until a few months ago, reports said Kalki 2’s shoot was progressing at a brisk pace, and the makers were planning a release by the end of 2027. With Amitabh and Kamal participating in the shoot, everyone thought that the key portions were being shot, but the reality was revealed by Nag Ashwin yesterday. With Prabhas prioritizing two other films over Kalki 2, the team is finding it tough to commence the shoot and bring it to screens.

Currently, Prabhas has Fauzi as top priority, with the film aimed for a release this December. Directed by Hanu Raghavapudi, the makers are working round the clock to meet the tight deadline.

Once Prabhas is done with Fauzi, Sandeep Reddy Vanga wants to block him for Spirit, which is aimed for a release during March next year. Only after Prabhas completes these two films, he can work on a new project and he may not be able to work on two projects simultaneously for practical reasons.

Given the current scenario, even Nag Ashwin can not predict when Kalki 2 will arrive in theatres. For that matter, the team is also not nervous and does not want to rush things but focus on pre production so that there won’t be hiccups once the production resumes. Having said and done, Kalki 2 may be hitting the screens only in the second half of 2028.
