Mirzapur Movie Creates Unexpected Box Office Buzz

Mirzapur: The Movie is taking trade by shock and surprise. The film’s advance bookings have surpassed the expectations of the trade. The gangster drama has garnered the interest from the audiences. Advance bookings for the much-awaited film opened on Monday, Aug 31.

As per reports, over 20,000 tickets have been sold across national multiplex chains in advance and set for a strong opening on the film’s release day, September 4.

If the current pace continues, Mirzapur: The Movie could be heading for a staggering 20 crore opening day in Hindi. Such a start would be unprecedented for a film based on an OTT series and is far higher than what many expected before bookings opened.

While initial estimates had suggested an opening in the Rs 10–15 crore range, the strong advance sales have now opened the possibility of a Rs 20 crore Day 1. The final number will depend on how bookings perform over the next few days and the response on release day.

Meanwhile, Mirzapur has received an A certificate from the CBFC. The Censor Board directed changes and cuts for intimate scenes, abusive language and certain dialogues. The final runtime is approximately 197 minutes and 19 seconds, making the film more than three hours long.

Despite the long runtime and A certificate, the early booking trend suggests that the Mirzapur brand has created huge curiosity among audiences.
