After creating curiosity with an intense and thought-provoking trailer, Secret Soldier has now taken a completely different promotional turn with its latest lyrical video, “Oye Oye.”
The song works as a social satire, taking a playful dig at one of the most common human tendencies: judging others, preaching morals and conveniently overlooking one’s own flaws.
The lyrics carry a teasing tone throughout. Lines such as “Neethulenno cheppeddaam” and “Gothulenno theeseddaam” capture that contradiction with humour, while the recurring “Oye Oye em telivabbayi, anni telusabbayi” gives the song a sarcastic edge.
What makes the release interesting is the contrast with the trailer. While the trailer presented Secret Soldier as an intense drama dealing with identity, conflict and perception, “Oye Oye” reveals a lighter and more satirical side of the film.
Rather than sounding preachy, the song packages its message in a catchy and conversational format. The humour works first, while the social observation sits underneath it.
This tonal shift also adds variety to the film’s promotional campaign. Instead of repeating the same intense mood, the makers are showing that Secret Soldier may have more than one flavour.
With the film set to hit theatres on September 18, “Oye Oye” gives audiences another glimpse into the world of Secret Soldier.
