The Legal Battle Over Sridevi’s ₹500 Cr Property!

Late actress Sridevi’s family has landed in a fresh legal battle over a valuable piece of land in Chennai. The Supreme Court has now stepped in and suggested that the dispute be settled through mediation.

According to the family, Sridevi purchased around five acres of land on Chennai’s East Coast Road in 1988. The property has become extremely valuable over the years and is now said to be around 500 crores.

Sridevi reportedly bought several properties in Chennai during her peak years. This particular land was purchased from a businessman named Modiliyar, who had reportedly sold it with all the required rights. The property remained with Sridevi and her family for decades, and a farmhouse was also built there.

The dispute started after Sridevi’s death when her family began the process of transferring the property into the names of her husband Boney Kapoor and daughters. At that point, the sons of Modiliyar’s second wife approached the court and claimed that they also had a share in the property.

They argued that their father had sold the land when they were still children and that the transaction happened without their knowledge. The Madras High Court rejected their case, noting that their mother was alive when the property was sold and had not raised any objection at that time.

The family members then approached the Supreme Court and argued that they were minors when the transaction took place and could now claim their rights as adults.

The Supreme Court has not given a final finding on whether they have a legal right over the property. Instead, it has suggested that both sides try to resolve the matter through mediation.

The development has reportedly left Sridevi’s family concerned as they maintain that the claim has come decades after the original purchase and question the basis of the new demand.
