Filmmaker Nag Ashwin has confirmed that regular shooting for Kalki 2898 AD Part 2 will begin in October 2026. Earlier, Nag Ashwin said he was unsure when filming would begin, but now he has more clarity on the film’s progress. The shoot will start next month, and the team plans to wrap it by mid-2027. Nag Ashwin shared the latest update after his film won two National Film Awards: Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment and Best Special Effects.
Team Kalki worked very hard, especially in creating a new world. The director anticipated they would need recognition on that front. Luckily, the government announced an award for special effects, recognizing the unimaginable work they did. Moreover, the first part of Kalki found a lot of fans among kids who are eagerly waiting for the second part and are constantly bombarding the director about the commencement of the same.
In light of this, Nag Ashwin confirmed that the team is all set to hit the floors. However, the question is whether everything falls in place and whether the team can stick to the specified timelines. Prabhas is currently occupied with Fauzi and will take some time to complete Spirit. After that, Prabhas will jump on to the sets of Kalki 2. Nag Ashwin is actually planning to wrap up the shoot as early as possible, but there are several practical constraints to adjust the dates of key cast.
