AI Deepfake Videos: Will Telugu Actresses Become Even Rarer?

A deepfake video of Janhvi Kapoor from the Chuttamalle song in Devara went viral on social media.

Using AI, someone made Janhvi Kapoor appear in an objectionable manner. The actress reacted sternly to it, and the lead actor of Devara, Jr NTR, warned, “To the scumbags behind this morphed Chuttamalle video, I will not spare any of you. I will take every possible legal action against those who created it and those who are spreading it.”

This is just the beginning of the worst to come.

Not just actresses, every woman whose pictures and videos are available online is vulnerable to such AI misuse.

In the coming days, this trend could make it even more difficult for Telugu girls to enter the film industry.

For many years, Telugu parents were very strict about sending their daughters into the film industry.

But only recently, we have seen Telugu parents becoming a little more open-minded. That is partly because of the advent of social media.

They have realised that the world is slowly becoming more broad-minded and that women can build careers in areas that were once considered off-limits.

But this AI trend suddenly poses a serious threat to women.

It does not matter if you carefully choose your scripts or follow strict personal principles.

AI can digitally manipulate your images and videos and turn them into disturbing content without your consent.

Going forward, AI-generated videos will become more and more believable. At some stage, it may become extremely difficult to differentiate between reality and AI-generated content.

There is also a danger of some parents becoming more restrictive and curtailing the freedom and career opportunities of their daughters because of these deepfake videos.

That could affect several young women unless governments across the globe step in with stronger laws and effective measures to stop this misuse of AI.
