The passing away of legendary auteur Singeetam Srinivas, who is regarded as one of the pioneers of Indian cinema for crafting countless classical films by blending unconventional storytelling with commercial elements, has left an unfilled void in Tollywood.
Tributes have been pouring in from fans, critics, and film fraternity members all over on the sad demise of this versatile director, who breathed his last at the age of 94.
Among the emotional tributes, acclaimed young director Nag Ashwin shared a moment from his interactions with the legendary filmmaker. He posted an Instagram screenshot of a personal message sent by Singeetam Srinivasa Rao last month.
In the shared message, Singeetam revealed his late-night creative idea, “A fruit cuts the knife” the title of my new script. The poetic and creative phrase reflects his relentless pursuit of crafting something unique even at the age of 94.
Nag Ashwin’s tribute serves as a touching reminder that Singeetam Srinivasa Rao was a filmmaker whose creative mind never stopped thinking about the art of cinema.
In June this year, Singeetam’s last film Sing Geetham released and received critical appreciation. It is a musical drama in which the narrative is infused into the form of a song throughout the film.
