RGV’s Attack on Celebs Misses Another Perspective?

Ram Gopal Varma is known for his bold, direct, and often unconventional way of reacting to controversies. While some of his takes strike a chord with the public, others invite sharp criticism and put him on the receiving end. Now, another such incident has brought RGV into the spotlight, this time over his remarks on celebrities reacting to an objectionable AI-generated deepfake video.

Varma has questioned celebrities for reacting to the objectionable AI generated video involving NTR and Janhvi Kapoor. He feels that their posts have only helped the content reach more people instead of focusing on identifying the person responsible. While many agree with RGV’s argument, there is another side to this discussion.

Celebrities speaking against such incidents may increase attention, but their reactions can also serve as a warning to millions of followers who might otherwise treat such content casually.

The bigger concern is that getting justice through the legal system is not always a quick process. Even in cases involving prominent political personalities, identifying and arresting the accused can take several days. During that period, the damage caused by the circulation of such content can continue to grow.

This is where celebrity reactions can make a difference. Their posts requesting or warning people not to share such videos or circulate links can discourage further distribution, even before legal action reaches its conclusion.

For instance, after NTR issued a strong warning, several social media users stopped sharing the video and its links. This suggests that public appeals from influential personalities can have a preventive impact, even if they cannot completely stop the circulation.

At the same time, RGV’s concern about giving unnecessary publicity to offensive content should not be dismissed. Celebrities and media platforms need to be careful about how they address such incidents without drawing more attention to the victim or the material itself.

Ultimately, the objective should be to identify the culprits, prevent further circulation, and ensure legal action. While RGV has a valid point about publicity, fans also believe that celebrities raising their voices can help limit the damage until the law takes its course.
