Ranabaali Director Takes A Sensible Call On Violence

Ever since the Ranabaali teaser came out, there have been some apprehensions over the portrayal of violence. Addressing all those concerns, director Rahul Sankrityan has openly admitted that Ranabaali had some portions of brutal violence. However, he said such violence has been toned down without affecting the story and emotions.

Rahul Sankrityan admitted that the violence and atrocity scenes in the film were a bit brutal and bold, and hence they have been toned down after considering feedback from the initial audience. Ranabaali is a period action drama. Vijay Deverakonda plays Singanamala Bobbili Ranabaali, a rebellious warrior who fights British oppression and saves his starving community during the Great Famine.

In an exclusive interview with Gulte, director Rahul said, “I showed Ranabaali preview to different sections of the audience. The feedback was that the atrocities were too harsh and difficult to digest. So, I toned down the violence because it was disturbing and affecting the next scene for the audience.”

It is good that Rahul toned down the violence, as audiences are unable to bear extreme violence these days, with most films increasingly adopting this approach.

It has been a long time since Vijay Deverakonda delivered a big blockbuster in cinemas. The film also happens to be the first film featuring Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika together after the couple tied the knot.

Hence, Ranabaali is crucial for Vijay, Rashmika and Rahul who has previously directed Shyam Singha Roy and Taxiwaala. Ranabaali is carrying high expectations and is clashing with Superstar Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 in theatres which makes the clash interesting to watch out.
