Varanasi Is Five Times Bigger Than RRR In Every Aspect

Director SS Rajamouli has revealed that his upcoming film Varanasi is much bigger in scale than his global blockbuster RRR. Speaking at the 50th São Paulo International Film Festival in Brazil, the filmmaker said the globetrotter is around five to six times bigger than RRR in every aspect.

Starring Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Prithviraj Sukumaran, Varanasi is being made as a global adventure featuring Indian mythology, historical elements and modern technology. The story travels across different locations, including Varanasi, Africa and Antarctica.

Rajamouli also explained that better planning helped the team save time during production. While RRR took around 315 shooting days to complete, Varanasi is expected to finish its shoot in approximately 275 days, Rajamouli revealed.

The director credited the experience gained from RRR as useful while shooting for Varanasi. Rajamouli revealed that he did a lot of paperwork before going to the sets, and this helped him be very clear while canning even the most difficult scenes in Varanasi.

The action drama is expected to offer a massive visual experience, with the makers releasing the film in an extensive IMAX presentation. Varanasi is scheduled to release worldwide on April 7, 2027.

Given the success of RRR and Rajamouli’s reputation for delivering grand cinematic spectacles, expectations are super high. The director’s latest comments have further raised curiosity about the scale and ambition of the Mahesh Babu-starrer.
