Director Trivikram Srinivas was once considered a safe bet at the box office. He knows how to connect with audiences, and several of his films have earned a special place among Telugu movie lovers. Athadu, Julayi, S/O Satyamurthy and Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo are examples of his storytelling and dialogue-writing strengths. Family audiences also had a strong belief that a Trivikram film was worth watching.
However, that brand seems to be taking a serious beating with his latest film Aadarsha Kutumbam. The film has received a mixed response, and its box office performance has been disappointing. The initial interest was largely driven by the Trivikram-Venkatesh combination, but the response from audiences has not been encouraging. Naturally, much of the criticism is now directed at Trivikram.
There were expectations that Trivikram would work his magic with this film, despite the similarities some viewers noticed with other films like Blast and AK 47. But the final output has left many fans disappointed.
Trivikram first faced a major setback with Agnyaathavaasi. However, he made a strong comeback with Aravinda Sametha and Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo. The latter went on to become the biggest hit of his career and brought his brand back into the spotlight.
But Guntur Kaaram proved to be another major disappointment. The film affected the confidence audiences had in his brand. Now, with Aadarsha Kutumbam also failing to meet expectations, questions are being raised about Trivikram’s box office credibility.
One of the biggest complaints about Aadarsha Kutumbam is the absence of his trademark storytelling. Apart from a few one-liners and rhyming dialogues, audiences could not find much of the Trivikram style they usually expect. His strength has always been blending his signature writing and commercial elements into an interesting story.
Some viewers are even questioning whether Aadarsha Kutumbam really feels like a Trivikram directorial. Has the director lost his Midas touch, or is this just another temporary setback? Only “GOD” knows the future.
