A Dutch cinema chain is attempting to make the audience go crazy with a surreal experiment. As per the latest update, Pathé Cinema has launched an initiative called Pathé Rewind, bringing together 30 movie lovers to experience their favourite films as if they were watching them for the first time.
The experiment will be conducted with experienced hypnotist Victor Kraemer, who has more than 30 years of experience in hypnosis. Going into detail, the selected participants will first attend individual online hypnosis sessions.
They will then gather at Pathé Buitenhof cinema in The Hague on November 9 for the main experiment. Before the screening, they will undergo hypnosis again in an attempt to temporarily forget the film’s story.
Participants can choose from four popular films: Interstellar, The Matrix, La La Land and Se7en. Based on their preferences, one film will be selected for the group screening.
The idea is to recreate the excitement of discovering a story, its surprises and memorable scenes for the first time. The initiative is to bring classic films back to cinemas and offer audiences unusual movie experiences.
This kind of event has never happened to date, and if it succeeds, it will be historic. Whether the experiment truly works remains to be seen, but it has already created an interesting conversation about movie memories and cinema magic.
