First Look, Big Controversy: Kamal Haasan’s Sandiyar

Kamal Haasan has surprised his fans with a powerful birthday special. The first look of his upcoming film Sandiyar has been released, and it has already started a discussion on social media as promotional message about revenge and blood has created controversy.

The film is directed by SU Arun Kumar, who is known for movies like Sethupathi, Chithha and Veera Dheera Sooran. The project was earlier referred to as KH237. Now makers have officially announced its title as Sandiyar.

The first-look poster shows Kamal Haasan in a serious and intense avatar. He is seen standing near a car with blood on his body. His powerful appearance and the dark background suggest that the film will have strong action and revenge elements.

But the film has attracted attention for another reason. Before revealing the title, the production house shared a promotional message suggesting that revenge could only be settled through blood. This statement did not go well with everyone.

Filmmaker Lenin Bharathi criticised the promotional message. He expressed concern about films repeatedly presenting violence as a solution to problems. He also questioned whether such messaging was responsible especially when violent incidents are already a concern in society. With this, the first looks itself came with a controversy.

The new film also has an interesting technical team. Anirudh Ravichander is associated with the music while popular action choreographers Anbariv are part of the project. The film is being produced under Kamal Haasan’s Raaj Kamal Films International banner. The shooting is expected to begin around Kamal Haasan’s birthday, November 7.
