In the run-up to the release of “Shakeela” biopic, the lead actor Richa Chadda opens up about the film and her preparation to play the role of veteran adult star who’s considered as a major rival for male stars in Malayalam Film Industry.
Director Indrajit Lankesh, who’d decided to bring the rollercoaster journey of softcore adult Star 90’s to 70MM, has introduced her to Chadda. As part of preparing for her role, the very curious Chadda began to understand her personality, her personal life, her stardom and more.
Apart from that, Richa Chadda also pulled out the list of films that made Shakeela a huge star in Malayalam Industry and she watched them all. “For the first time, I am doing an iconic and a controversial figure”. Also, it’s a new kind of cinema setting that has a lot of Southern flavor.
Speaking about Shakeela, Chadda further added “She is a very sweet lady and was very protective of me. She wasn’t familiar with my work, but still gathered a lot of information. Shakeela was a very caring & generous lady who trusted me a lot. She is not bitter about any person and I think it is q very noble quality in her. Loving, maternal, complicated, and at the same time, very childlike.” Starring Pankaj Tripathi and Richa Chadda in key roles, the movie released on Christmas day to an underwhelming response.
