Godzilla Vs Kong Beats WW84; Sets a New Pandemic Record

Warner Bros’ recently released sci-fi monster film ‘Godzilla Vs Kong’, has set a new record during the Coronavirus pandemic. The film collected a record $285.4M (Rs 2,100 crore) at the worldwide box office. The film has beaten Warner Bros’ Wonder Woman ’84’s collections and revived Hollywood especially when the studios are still rattled by COVID-19.

Released on March 31st across the US, Godzilla Vs Kong collected $32.3 million gross in its 3-day opening weekend (WW84 was just $16.7 million) and $48.5 million in its 5-day theatrical run so far. Made on a modest $160 million budget, this Adam Wingard directorial grossed $285.4 million within 12 days worldwide.

Godzilla Vs Kong made an estimated $120.1 million gross globally from 39 markets (including the US and Canada) in its debut. Globally, the film opened last weekend and made $285.4 million, with $137.1 million coming in from China alone. The film also set a new pandemic record by having the biggest release (3,064 screens) amongst the recent releases.
