Earlier, we used to wait for a new theatrical release every Friday. But nowadays, we are witnessing digital releases instead of theatrical releases every week. Today, two films have landed on OTT space to entertain audiences. One of them is AR Rahman’s 99 Songs and another one is Telugu cross-time connection film Playback.
99 Songs is the maiden production venture of Rahman. He also penned the story and screenplay of it. Directed by Vishwesh Krishnamoorthy, this film featured Ehan Bhatt and Edilsy Vargas in the lead roles. 99 Songs had its theatrical release on April 16. But due to the rise in COVID-19 cases and the lockdown of the theatres, it couldn’t do big business at the box office. Thus, the team is expecting it to get the due attention with its digital release. The film is streaming in Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil on Netflix and Jio Cinema.
Touted to be the first Indian film based on cross-time connection, Playback grabbed the attention of viewers with its intriguing trailer. The film did well in the theatres too. It released in March this year and is now available on the Aha Video platform. It features Dinesh of Husharu fame and Ananya Nagalla of Vakeel Saab fame in the lead roles.
