‘I Will Be Witch’, Shruti On Being Trolled For Black Lip Colour

Actress Shruti Haasan is also known for making empowering style statements. From embellished to sparkling gowns and graphic shirts to uber-cool outfits, Shruti is a jet-set trendsetter, making her style highly unparalleled. However, the actress spoke about getting trolled for her fashion choices of late, during her interview with Pinkvilla.

Shruti showed us how to slay Rich plums, dramatic burgundies, bronze-y chocolates, and even straight-up black lipsticks on her Instagram. And her love for dark lip shades was also quite evident. “I didn’t wear that black lipstick so that you can put that gold star on your report card of me. I did it because I wanted to do it,” said Shruti while talking about how people mocked her lip shades.

“So, I will continue, I’m not going to do it for a role or a movie unless it demanded it. I wouldn’t just like randomly or put black lipstick and step out of my house in the middle of summer. I mean, I would love to but I think that would be a bit much, but if the mood calls for it and if I feel like doing it, then I do it,” she added.

She further said that she grew up idolising the goth subculture. “I love that whole aesthetic. I get comments like what happened to you, you look like ‘chudail’ and I say ok. yeah, it’s fine…that’s cool because witches are bad so I love that. I will be chudail (witch) that’s fine. I think they don’t realize when they call me witch that it’s the greatest compliment because I think somewhere I’ve aspired to be rock and roll witch anyway..so it’s great.”

While we think her pictures were a glam version of dark lip shades, probably only Shruti Haasan can carry off the high fashion dark hues like a pro. On the professional front, Shruti is busy with action-thriller ‘Salaar’ opposite Prabhas in Prashanth Neel film. She is also doing a political thriller Laabam in Tamil, opposite Vijay Sethupati, being helmed by S P Jananathan.
