The Great Pre Wedding Show Review

After impressing audiences with Masooda and Pareshan, Thiruveer returns with The Great Pre Wedding Show, a lighthearted rural entertainer directed by Rahul Srinivas. The film also stars Committee Kurrollu fame Teena Sravya and 90s web series actor Rohan in key roles. Promising a fun and relatable slice of small-town life, the film hits screens this weekend. Let’s see if it delivers what it promises.

Setup:

Raju (Thiruveer) is a small-town photographer with a modest studio. He bags a pre-wedding shoot for a couple in his village, where the groom Anand (Narendra Ravi) is particular about shooting a grand pre-wedding video. Raju’s life turns upside down when the memory card containing all the footage goes missing after the shoot. What begins as a search mission soon spirals into a series of amusing situations involving the bride, groom, and their families. How Raju deals with the chaos and finds the missing footage forms the crux of The Great Pre Wedding Show.

Technicalities:

Cinematography by Soma Sekhar is neat. It perfectly captures the small-town ambience and fits with the proceedings. The whole movie feels very realistic and natural without much artificial setup. Editor Naresh Adupa did a very clean job, maintaining the lightheartedness and making sure the humour and emotion go hand in hand. Suresh Bobbili’s songs and background score are soothing and simple. They flow with the story and enhance the moments. Especially, the Vayyari Vayyari song sets up the feel-good vibe for the film. Production values reflect the needs of the story perfectly. Every location, be it the houses or the studio, is true to the film’s setup. Director Rahul Srinivas took a very simple conflict and created sufficient fun and drama around it. The screenplay keeps coming up with little surprises, taking new turns and keeping the audience engaged within its limited scope.

Performances:

Thiruveer is sincere, and his natural dialogue delivery shines throughout the movie. Teena Sravya, as a contract employee in the panchayat, gets enough space to perform while not being just a love interest. Master Rohan keeps bringing out the laughs at regular intervals with his natural timing. Narendra Ravi, as the groom in the movie, is a standout character. He literally makes you root for him and his love story with his innocence. Soundarya as the bride is equally good. Other characters, including the parents of the couple, are a perfect fit for their roles.

Positives:

Thiruveer & Rohan’s chemistry
Narendra Ravi’s character as the groom
Lighthearted comedy throughout
Suresh Bobbili’s songs and BGM
Slight emotional touch towards the end

Negatives:

Rushed climax
Slight dip at the start of the second half

Analysis:

Right now, we are observing that the Telugu audiences are feeling the action film fatigue, with a void for simple entertainers. This also explains the success of Little Hearts. Now, with The Great Pre Wedding Show, the makers promised exactly that, a simple slice-of-life comedy-drama through trailers and promotional content, and they kept their promise. Right from the opening, the movie has a pleasant, feel-good vibe, making its characters and world instantly likeable. The film doesn’t rush from one point to another; instead, it steadily takes you through a fun ride.

The first half opens with interesting character introductions before jumping into the conflict, which then takes the fun and chaos a notch higher. The interval ends with a good turn. Although the emotional stretch that follows post-interval doesn’t land perfectly, the film gains momentum back with a few enjoyable turns in the story. Though the emotion lands in the climax, it feels a bit simple. The pre-wedding shoot song sequence and the sequence that follows right after the memory card goes missing are the standout scenes. The ensemble cast deserves a special mention. Nothing in this film is over the top, making it very comforting to watch.

Overall, The Great Pre Wedding Show is simple and fun, making it a decent watch this weekend.

Bottomline: A Good Show!

Rating: 2.75/5
