Female centric movies are always considered to be experiments in the Indian movie industry. Although, Bollywood produced many of such films in the past, it is only now that the South cinema is coming up with such movies. Now, a poster in Chennai proves the power of female centric cinema.
Very recently, the box office witnessed the releases of four female centric movies. Before the release, all movies carried big buzz and hype in the film circles as well as social media.
Starting with Nayanthara’s Connect to Kovai Sarala’s Sembi, four films managed to grab the attention of movie lovers.
Connect, directed by Ashwin Saravanan was released on 22nd December. Later, Aishwarya Rajesh’s Driver Jamuna was released on 30th December. Both these movies had a release in Telugu apart from Tamil.
On 30th December, Trisha’s Raangi and Kovai Sarala’s Sembi too hit the screens in Tamil. Among these four movies, Kovai Sarala’s movie alone managed to show a domination over other movies.
Let us hope that more and more female driven stories come up in South!
