In recent times, there have been multiple reports of theft and burglary involving members of the Indian community in the United States. Several incidents of shoplifting and robbery have been linked to individuals on temporary visas.
In this context, the United States Embassy in India has issued a strict warning to the Indian community, as well as to the broader international population, regarding such unlawful activities.
The Embassy clearly stated that anyone caught in theft or burglary cases will face strict legal action. In addition, it was emphasized that those found guilty may not only face legal consequences but also risk having their visas revoked. They could also be declared ineligible to apply for U.S. visas in the future.
“Committing assault, theft, or burglary in the United States won’t just cause you legal issues – it could lead to your visa being revoked and make you ineligible for future U.S. visas. The United States values law and order and expects foreign visitors to follow all U.S. laws,” the U.S. Embassy in India stated.
This serves as a serious warning to those in the Indian community who might assume that minor offenses will be overlooked. The message is clear: such actions could result in severe consequences, including the cancellation of visas.
