One of the biggest and blatant wastages of public money done during the previous Jagan government was the construction of the Rushikonda Palace. This mega enclosure was constructed on a budget of hundreds of crores and it is now becoming a dead investment for the state finances.
In this context, something rather interesting has happened with regard to the suggestions for the utilisation of this dead rubber and it came from Ashok Gajapathi Raju, who is currently serving as the governor of Goa.
While taking part in a public event in Vizag to commemorate the legendary Alluri Seetharama Raju, Ashok Gajapati Raju pointed out that Rushikonda Palace could perhaps be converted into a mental institution.
“The previous rulers spent ₹600 crore of public money on these wasteful buildings with absolutely no use. Perhaps it is better to convert this into a mental hospital as this would reminisce the mindless decision taken by the previous government. What is for certain is that these buildings cannot be lit to sit on waste after having spent hundreds of crores.” Raju said.
This satirical suggestion from Raju Garu comes shortly after deputy chief minister, Pawan Kalyan visited the palace and pointed out that these buildings must be put to some sort of use. Perhaps this is one possible use of this building that is anyway lying to waste now.
