Cyclone Montha effect Begins in TG : Heavy to Very Heavy Rains

Since morning after Cyclone Montha’s landfall in AP, a very heavy rainfall has started to begin up across South and Central Telangana, indicating that the next few hours of the day will be extremely crucial. As per latest reports, core rain bands are strengthening from Guntur, Amaravati, Macherla, and Nandigama, moving rapidly towards Khammam, Mahabubabad, and Suryapet districts.

These core rain bands from the eye of the cyclone are known for producing intense, nonstop downpours that can quickly raise rainfall totals within a short time resulting in record rainfall levels. According to weather reports, these bands are now expanding and are expected to cover Bhadradri–Kothagudem, Warangal, Hanmakonda, Jangaon, and Yadadri–Bhongir within the next three hours.

People living in these areas are advised to stay indoors unless absolutely necessary. Heavy waterlogging, poor visibility and minor flash floods in low-lying areas are possible as rainfall rates could rise exponentially tonight.

Meanwhile, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Mahabubnagar, Vikarabad and Rangareddy will also experience steady moderate to heavy rains over the next two hours, as the southern rain clouds from the cyclone continue to push northward.

Two-wheelers are advised to avoid late-night travel and check local updates frequently. The situation might ease gradually in the late afternoon, but occasional thunder and heavy bursts may still continue into the evening hours.

Authorities are keeping a close watch, especially in Khammam and Bhadradri-Kothagudem, where intense cloud buildup has been observed. The public are urged to stay alert, charge their phones, and avoid venturing near overflowing canals or low bridges.
