Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu has announced a massive cash reward of Rs 100 crore for anyone from the state who achieves a world class breakthrough in the field of quantum technology.
Addressing the Quantum Talk by CM CBN programme held virtually, Naidu said the government had earlier promised a similar reward if an individual from Andhra Pradesh won a Nobel Prize. Extending that vision, he stated that the same amount would now be awarded to those who reach global excellence through quantum research and innovation.
The virtual event was attended by representatives from leading technology companies, directors of IIT Chennai and IIT Tirupati, and thousands of technology students. During his speech, the Chief Minister highlighted how extraordinary such an announcement is, noting that the actual Nobel Prize carries a much smaller monetary reward compared to what the state is now offering.
Naidu said Andhra Pradesh has the ability to quickly adopt and master new technologies. He stressed that the state aims to lead technological revolutions rather than follow them. He also revealed plans to manufacture quantum computing equipment from Amaravati within the next two years and supply it to international markets.
The Chief Minister further explained how quantum applications could transform healthcare through personalized medicine, preventive systems and advanced treatment methods. He added that the government’s goal is to train one lakh quantum professionals and establish Andhra Pradesh as a global center for quantum technology.
