Tirumala is one of the cultural and sacred places of worship for the Hindu community and it receives particularly amplified attendance during the holy Vaikunta Ekadashi period. The same was the case this year as well, considering the fact that nearly 8 lakh people visited the temple in the 10-day Ekadasi period that ended yesterday, January 8.
It is commendable to note that 97 percent of those who had darshan through the Vaikunta Ekadashi arrangement from December 30 to January 8 were ordinary devotees.
By providing darshan to 7.83 lakh people through the North Door darshan, which devotees consider highly sacred, the TTD has completed the Ekadasi period with precision and efficiency.
The precautions taken and policies implemented, from monitoring queues to providing Annaprasadam and every facility offered to devotees, have yielded good results. The token system was also managed very well this time as the crowds were kept in control and the movement was also monitored well.
Generally speaking, during the Vaikunta Ekadasi period, pilgrims often complain about elongated waiting periods and poor conditions. But that isn’t the case this time as the TTD took righteous precautions in this regard.
