As we have been extensively reporting for the last one week, the Hyderabad and Vijayawada Highway have been witnessing extremely high volume of traffic. This is due to the exodus of the city population due to the Sankranti festival season.
Last week, it was outgoing traffic from Hyderabad city towards Vijayawada as people left to their hometown to celebrate the Sankranti festival with their families. And now it is the incoming traffic towards Hyderabad city as people have started to return to the metro city back to work.
This extreme traffic has created a massive overflow at the toll booths as over 1 lakh vehicles have reportedly crossed the stations in the last few hours itself. The Pantangi toll plaza is facing the brunt of this traffic.
The majority of the tollbooth stations are already in operation, but that is not sufficient enough for this massive traffic congestion.
Experts have been advising the public to be more watchful of this situation and plan one extra day for their trip so that they can travel the next day and avoid this massive influx.
