Chennai Love Story producer SKN opened up in a candid conversation with Gulte Pro’s Ram Venkat after the film’s release. From production struggles to promotions, he shared several interesting insights on how filmmaking has changed over the years.
SKN said making a film today is far more expensive than it was a decade ago. Rising production costs, bigger crews and location expenses have pushed budgets higher, making careful planning more important than ever.
He revealed that emotional dramas demand much more time than commercial entertainers. Several scenes required extra shooting days and repeated takes to achieve the natural performances the team was aiming for.
Talking about promotions, SKN said marketing has become a major investment. However, he stressed that no amount of publicity can save a film if audiences do not connect with the content inside theatres.
The producer made an interesting observation about reviews as well. He said genuine reviews and honest audience talk help a film much more than artificial social media hype, adding that viewers quickly identify what is real and what is not.
Looking ahead, SKN said the biggest lesson from Chennai Love Story is to finish shooting well before release and give enough time for post production. He sounded optimistic about applying these learnings to his upcoming films.
