The government of Andhra Pradesh and the Police department have been very particular against the spread of misinformation and defamatory content on social media. This is the reason why the content regarding personal defamation and fake narratives is being taken down quickly.
However, something unexpected and incoherent happened with the cyber operations of Andhra Pradesh Police as there was a lapse in identification mechanism.
According to several posts that were shared by YSR Congress supporters on social media, they received content removal notices from AP Police. But the identification that was displayed on these emails regarding the removal of Content had the term “FBI” inscribed on them.
This matter has reached YS Jagan now, and he fired on chief minister Chandrababu over this lapse of identification that was committed by a cyber wing of AP police that hit wrong notes.
This was substantiated by the elaborate message that Jagan had shared on social media.
“Mr. Chandrababu Naidu Garu, is this policing, or state-sponsored deception aimed at politically motivated harassment? Your police force identifying themselves as the US Federal Bureau of Investigation while seeking the removal of posts from X is the most deplorable act that tarnishes the reputation of our state and country.
X has confirmed that the takedown request originated from an official Andhra Pradesh Police email address, not the FBI’s! yet the officer names ‘FBI’ as the sender organisation.” Jagan wrote.
The concerned cyber wing of Police had already communicated that this was error in identification, and it has nothing to do with the FBI which belongs to the USA. But the YCP ecosystem has been very active in dealing with this situation as they are saying that the AP police is wrongly posing as the FBI to terrorise the YCP groups on social media.
